The British Empire and its effect on Plymouth

Mount Wise Parade, Plymouth

This photograph shows two units parading in Mount Wise in Plymouth. Mount Wise provided barracks both for units providing the soldiers for the extensive fortifications and defences of Plymouth but also for units passing on towards ships and further flung locations or for those returning from foreign climes. Hence, there was a significant churnage in the units stationed at the barracks.
