The Senoi Praaq were recruited from the Orang Asli (aborigines) tribal peoples of the hills and mountains in Malaya. Chinese Communists had originally come to rely heavily on these people as guides and intelligence gatherers. The British decided that they could undermine these CT inroads by employing the Orang Asli themselves.
