Lying in State


The body of Field Marshal Wood was brought from Essex to Aldershot where it lay in state in the Royal Garrison Church in December 1919. In this photo his coffin is guarded by a detachment of Warrant Officers and NCOs from the 17th Lancers, the regiments that he served in from 1858 to 1862.
