Approach to Quetta


Quetta was the first major settlement that the British advancing army entered. However, it did not fully alleviate the supply problems of the British as the poor Afghan town could not hope to have enough spare supplies for the hungry and thirsty British Army. The officers in the middle foreground are Sir John Keane and his staff.
