Bibighar Well

This is a sketch by Lieutenant Pearce. The stench of the bodies was said to be overpowering. The sketch does not convey the quantity of flies that had been attracted by the corpses. The vultures were attracted by the smell but found it difficult to get down to the bodies themselves. This picture is unusual in that it still shows the Bibighar in the background. It also shows a makeshift gallows that had been set up by the British to execute those involved (and some who were not involved)
