Prisoners of the British

This photograph shows some of the Afridi tribesmen that were captured by the British on some of their sweeps of the valleys and villages. The distinction between a fighter and a farmer was not an obvious one to the Afghan hills people. The British tended to impound all able-bodied men as a result.
