Lieutenant's Uniform

The tunic had nine gilt buttons down the front. There were two small buttons on the cuff. Junior officers had the plain gold cord Austrian knot on the sleeve, captains had a more ornate knot (see Detail of Sleeve). The scarlet collar had gold cord and gold lace along the edge and a silver grenade (see Detail of Collar). Badges of rank were sewn on to the gold, plaited shoulder cords. The trousers have a scarlet stripe one and three quarters inch wide. The sword has a simple gold cord with gold acorn.
