Private's Full Dress Uniform

Dark blue tunic, the edges traced round with yellow worsted braid. The same braid was used to form six rows across the chest at the level of the six brass ball buttons. The rows ended in caps and drops and were of diminishing length from top to bottom. see Detail The sleeves were decorated with an Austrian knot. The rear of the tunic had braid following the seams with a trefoil design at the top and an Austrian knot on the skirt with caps at waist level. The vent in the skirt was pleated. The breeches were like jodhpurs in that they were baggy round the thigh but tight round the knee. The double yellow stripe down the side of the breeches was a single 2 inch wide piece of tape with a crimson line down the middle.

A close-up view of the braid and button. The inside of the sleeve shows a white lining.
