7th Hussars

Shako 1835

This fine example in a private collection shows the interlcking circles of braid round the topand the wheel at the front with ball button in the middle. There are no cap-lines here but the black drooping cock feathers are in good condition. The chin chain would not have been hooked up to the top of the cap like this when it was worn. This style of headgear was worn until 1843 when it was replaced by the busby.
