Queen's Own Hussars

Officer's Mess Kit

This style of mess kit was worn by all officers, the RSM and Bandmaster. The only difference between ranks was the badge on the shoulder cords. The cuffs are ornamented with gold Russia braid in the form of an Austrian knot. The jacket does not fasten down the front but is joined at the collar by a thin gold cord. The red waistcoat with gold gimp edging shows through when the jacket is worn. The back of the jacket has black mohair braid following the seams. The collar and shoulder cords can be seen in Detail.
