Tailor's Pattern of Frock Coat c1800


This is photographed from a contemporary pattern book. The inscription underneath reads: Body lined with satinett, Skirts lined & turnbacks white casimere. Rich gold epaulette & skirt ornaments. Laced rich gold lace 30/1. Solid gilt Reg 1 buttons. Blue cloth lappells, cuffs & edging. The cuff is indicated on the left of the coat, the lapel on the right. The skirt ornament is shown, enlarged at lower right. It is of blue cloth, richly embroidered. The pocket on the tail of the coat has three buttons which are left undone and half concealed by the red pocket flap. A thin blue edge follows the top of the collar, around the lapel, along the botom edge and along the top edge of the turnbacks.
