26th Regiment of Foot

Officer's Forage Cap 1880

This particular forage cap had a very short life because the drooping peak style replaced the horizontal type in 1880, and by 1881 the regiment had amalgamated with the 90th to form the Scottish Rifles. The Chinese Dragon was allowed to be worn on the forage cap in 1874. The colours of the regimental pattern of cap dicing are shown clearly here.
