27th Regiment of Foot

Officer, Light Company 1815

The jacket worn by this officer conforms with the actual 1813 example except that it is buttoned over to hide the lapels. The artist has not been careful in the placing of buttons which should be evenly spaced. The gold laced shoulder wing has a silver stringed bugle badge. His sword belt has a gilt belt-plate with a silver castle and 27 but no stringed bugle as in the accoutrements found in Hereford belonging to Captain Parsons. The officer in this portrait is Captain John Miller who was wounded at Waterloo.
