Officers of 2nd Battalion, 1899

The three most senior officers stand at the front in boots and breeches as they are the only officers to be mounted on parade. They also have a sabretache. The others would wear close-fitting overalls. The frock is scarlet with buff facings and has breast pockets but no hip pockets as opposed to the other ranks' version. Their field service caps are unusual in having three small buttons at the front instead of two.
