Corporal and Signaller

There are two differences between the uniforms shown in this painting by Harry Payne and the RSM and Private by John McNeill. The epaulettes are green here but red with a white edge in the other painting. Also the elephant collar badge is silver here and brass in the other. The signaller has his badge over his good-conduct chevrons. They both have Lee Enfield rifles (SMLE) which were issued to the army in 1902.
