| There are two differences between the uniforms shown in this painting by Harry Payne and the RSM and Private by John McNeill. The epaulettes are green here but red with a white edge in the other painting. Also the elephant collar badge is silver here and brass in the other. The signaller has his badge over his good-conduct chevrons. They both have Lee Enfield rifles (SMLE) which were issued to the army in 1902. |
