Sergeant, Service Dress 1914

Undress uniform was replaced, in 1902, by khaki service dress and the khaki peaked cap introduced in 1905. The rifle regiments had black buttons instead of brass. The cap had a smart appearance because of the circular wire stiffener, but this was removed when the regiments reached the trenches to make the cap less visible. The webbing equipment was introduced in 1908. His rifle is the short Lee-Enfield .303 which could fire up to 25 rounds a minute. It had a 17 inch bayonet.
