Officer's Full Dress Helmet

This style of helmet was referred to as the Home Service helmet because when full dress was worn in hot climates, the white helmet was worn. It was first introduced in 1878 and worn up until World War 1. The difference between the officer's version and the OR's is stated in Officers and OR 1891. The helmet is made of cork and covered in blue cloth. The gilt chin-chain was lined with velvet. Sometimes the chain was worn hooked up at the back as here, but more usually worn on the chin. This helmet is post 1901 as the badge has a King's crown.
