The Northumberland Fusiliers

Second Lieutenant 1892

The lowest officer rank had no rank badges on the gold shoulder cords. The white collar is edged with gold lace along the top and front edge, with thin Russia braid along the bottom edge. On each side are gold embroidered flaming grenades with a small silver badge of St George and the Dragon on the bomb. White piping follows the outer edge of the collar and continues down the front edge of the tunic. The buttons are gilt with the ancient regimental badge in the middle. He wears a gold and crimson striped sash for levee dress. The bearskin cap has a badge on the front but it is covered by the black fur. On the left side is the red and white hackle, and the chin chain was burnished gilt lined with black velvet.
