The Warwickshire Regiment

Private in Undress Frock c1890

The young private carries a cane as if for walking-out. The tunic he wears differs from the dress tunic in that it has no white piping down the front edge. There were different styles of frock and this one appears not to have blue collar and cuffs. There was one unpopular type that had shoulder straps only in the facing colour, and this may be it. The glengarry cap is very dark blue with black ribbons along the edge and hanging down the back. It has a bi-metal badge which can be seen at Other Ranks Badges along with the brass collar badges, which at this stage were the Warwickshire county badge of the bear with chain and ragged staff.
