Constable's Tunic, 1882


Scarlet tunic worn in full dress, 1882 pattern. At this stage, the collar, cuffs and shoulder straps are scarlet too. The edges are traced in yellow braid and the cuffs ornamented with an Austrian knot. This style lasted until the adoption of blue facings in 1904. There are 7 large brass buttons down the front and two smaller ones on each cuff. The belt is brown leather with bullet pockets and steel buckle. The white strap across his chest is the white linen haversack.
