Superintendant in Undress, 1890

The patrol jacket was of blue cloth with 5 rows of black mohair lace across the front and along the edges. The sleeve was decorated with black mohair braid. This was introduced around 1886 as was the Field Service Cap. It is mostly of blue cloth with a yellow top. The badge was embroidered. This cap can be seen on the photo of Sam Steele. When parading with the men in full dress this order of dress might be worn by an officer but with the white helmet instead of the cap.
