Sergeant South Africa, 1900

The uniform issued to the Canadian troops was not considered suitable for the South African War so they were given British wool serge service dress. He wears the stetson and Strathcona boots that became the trademark of the Mounties in the years to come. His revolver is a Colt .44 which was issued to all ranks of the regiment. The badge can be seen on his collar and he has a similar one on the front of his stetson.
