4th Gurkhas

Rifleman, 1890

Watercolour by A C Lovett of a very useful rear view of the uniform and equipment. The most striking item is the kukri behind his right hip. The haversack and waterbottle hang from the right shoulder, hiding an ammunition pouch on the back of his waistbelt. His blanket is strapped high on his back with two leather straps. He holds a percussion musket.
