Officer in Undress Uniform 1890

This officer stands at the other end of the group photo taken at Muridki Camp in 1890. He is in the undress uniform of the 5th Punjab Cavalry. The patrol jacket and breeches are of dark green material with black mohair cording across the jacket, and gold stripes on the breeches. Most Indian cavalry regiments wore white breeches in undress but the 25th wore dark trousers and breeches. The undress pouchbelt is of black patent leather with the gold and red flask cord down the middle. He is holding a white helmet with a dark green pagri around it. He has a plain black undress sabretache, and sword, attached with black leather slings to a webbing belt beneath his jacket.
