Skinner's Horse

Officer, 1895

This detail from a Simkin print gives us a view of the back of the plain black leather pouchbelt. The pouch looks as if it is plain black leather as well, whereas some accounts state that the pouch for all officers, British and Indian, was the black velvet embroidered version (see Pouchbelts). We also have a clear view of the way the sword was slung from the waistbelt. The red turban with gold and black stripes has an unusual black kullah.
