40th pathans

Piper

Bagpipes are popular in hilly countries in many parts of the world and it was expected that a Pathan unit would take readily to a pipe band. Indian pipers chose a tartan that was either of the Colonel's clan or that of the Scotsman who taught them to play. The 40th chose instead to use a style of lungi from the Kohat area.
