55th Coke's Rifles

British Officer's Mess Kit

As with the tunic, this waist length jacket is rifle green wth scarlet collar and cuffs and trimmed with black mohair. There are four rows of black looping. The waistcoat here fastens all the way to the neck whereas the dress regulations for the 1st Bn 13th FFR (1922-39) stipulate a V cut waistcoat to be worn with a white shirt and black tie. The trousers were rifle green with two black mohair stripes and a scarlet light between. The whole ensemble was worn with a rifle green fore & aft cap which had black silk cord along the top and a scarlet corded boss with silver bugle badge.
