80th Carnatic Infantry

Subadar, 1908

The tunic colours of scarlet with green facings had remained unchanged since 1861. The officers had a collar whereas the other ranks did not. The turban is strikingly colourful where most Madras regiments had khaki. This officer is a muslim and he holds and points at the Honorary Colour of the 80th which is inscribed "Hyder Ally, Sholinghur, Hezira, 1195".
