British Officer's Mess Kit, c1905

These items accompanied the patrol jacket and helmet in the Bosley sale, also belonging to Major C H Williams. They are typical of the Rifle regiment pattern of mess dress, being of drab colour with beige mohair cords and lace. The cuffs and collar are in the scarlet facing colour but are barely visible beneath the field officer's decoration. The waistcoat is V-necked and worn with stiff white shirt front and black bow tie.
