Captain A B Lawson, 1914

Lawson commanded 'A' Squadron which became detached from the regiment during the retreat from Mons. He kept a cool head in the battle at Nery and kept his colonel well informed. At Ypres he took command of a mixed force of 19th Hussars, 5th DGs, Life Guards and his own regiment. They were under heavy bombardment but managed to re-take some lost trenches. His diaries tell us a lot about the 11th in WW1.
