W J Lockett, 1914



Major Locket, seen here in Aldershot before embarkation in 1914, was a major in command of C Squadron. He was promoted to Lt-Col in 1920 and commanded the 11th during their time in India, which was from 1921 to 1926, handing over command to F H Sutton in 1924. The regiment was stationed at Meerut. Before they went to India, the 11th were given a new Commander-in-Chief, HRH the Duke of York (the future King George VI).
