William Henry Ryecroft

Ryecroft transferred to the 11th from the 7th Dragoon Guards as a major in August 1896. He was promoted to Lt-Col on 29th September 1904 and commanded the regiment from that date. He served on many campaigns, including the Nile Expedition of 1884-5, the Sudan 1887, Afghanistan 1897-8, the Boer War 1899-1900 and Somaliland 1902-3. He is wearing the early style of kakhi service dress jacket with closed collar. His cap is the crimson forage cap with kakhi cover. But he is wearing full dress breeches and boots whish looks a little odd.
