Edward John Carter was commissioned into the Devonshire Regiment and transferred to the 13th Hussars as a Sub-Lieutenant on 26th Mar 1902. He was seconded for service in the West African Regiment as a lieutenant from 9th Sep 1904. The London Gazette of 3rd Feb 1909 announced: Lieutenant E J Carter to be Captain vice J T Wigan resigned. He served in World War 1 and transferred to the Royal Tank Regiment. He wears the badges for the RTR in this photo. |
