Sir Fitzroy Maclean



Started as a Cornet in 7th Dragoon Guards 19th August 1852, transfering to the 13th Light Dragoons 2 months later. He became a Lieutenant the day after the Battle of Balaklava. Promoted to Captain in January 1856 and Major in August 1861. He was Lieutenant Colonel of the 13th Hussars from 4th February 1871 to 18th October 1873. In this photograph he wears the uniform of the West Kent Yeomanry of which he was Lieutenant-Colonel and Honorary Colonel. His medals include Crimea with clasp and Turkish War medal, CB (civil), KCB (civil).
