Trumpeters, Drill Order 1904

The seven regimental trumpeters are dressed in drill order somewhere near Aldershot shortly after the 14th returned from the Boer War. They are in blue serge frocks, dress breeches, and puttees instead of knee boots. The brown leather ammunition bandolier has replaced the white leather pouch-belt which is now reserved for more formal occasions. They are draped in cords which support a trumpet and a bugle. The cords are in the royal colours of red yellow and blue. They all wear the red field service cap and carry a sword. This picture should be compared with the pre-Boer war trumpeter in the Types of 1899.
