Pearson Scott Thompson CB


Pearson Scott Thompson joined the 7th Dragoon Guards in August 1842 and served with them in the 'Kaffir War' of 1845 to 1847. He transferred to the 14th Light Dragoons as a captain in 1849 and fought throughout the Central India campaign of 1858. He commanded the 14th Hussars for ten and a half years from 1864 to 1875 during which time they were in England, Scotland and Ireland. He was well regarded for his stable system and care of horses. In 1869 he was awarded the Companionship of the Bath, He reached the rank of major-general on 1 Oct 1877, but died in 1878 at Beverley in Yorkshire.
