All Ranks 1856

The sergeant and privates in this painting by Orlando Norie are in review order with embroidered shabraques and valises. Carbines are not in evidence in this picture although they were used on field days. The sergeant has three chevrons and a badge above which is probably the Prussian eagle. The trumpeter behind the officers has no pouch-belt and he has the same red and white plume on his shako as the others. The two officers at the front of this column are dressed as for review order and have leathered trousers that look like knee boots.
