| This medal was awarded to soldiers of the 14th Light Dragoons during the Peninsula War. The history of the regiment recounts how a medal was presented to Corporal William Hanley for his leadership of the patrol that captured a troop of French Dragoons at Blasco Sancho. There is no description of the medal although it would be expected that a special medal was struck for Hanley. This photo is reproduced from Bryan Perrett's book 'The Hawks' but does not specify to whom it was given. |
