Guidons 1766

These sketches are from PW Reynolds' books which are in the Victoria & Albert museum. They create a problem in that the date is unknown. They clearly are guidons of the 15th King's Light Dragoons but they bear no mention of their prized battle honour EMSDORF or their motto MEREBIMUR. They were granted royal status in 1766 so they must date after that, and they received the battle honour in December 1768. The motto, however was granted in 1766. The stag device on the lower guidon appears on the drum of the regimental Drummer.

The King's guidon is basically crimson while the 2nd and 3rd guidons would be of the facing colour, blue in this case. But this is only supposition as they sketches are not coloured.
