5th Dragoon Guards

Drumhorse 1933

The two views of the skewbald or piebald drumhorse confirm that there were two matching 5th DG drum banners which date from 1920. They are worn on one of the drumhorses of the 5th Inniskilling Dragoon Guards which was photographed at the Aldershot Tattoo of 1933. The oversized shabraque is of the 6th Dragoons. The drummer has a scarlet tunic with yellow collar and castle badge. His helmet plume and bridle throat plume are red. Although mostly hidden by the drums his breeches are green with a yellow stripe.
