R C B Lawrence

Captain Richard Charles Bernard Lawrence served in the Egypt Campaign of 1882. He was gazetted on 17th Nov 1882 when he was awarded the Turkish Order of Medjidie 4th Class, the large star in the middle of his Egypt medals. In the Gazette of 19th Oct 1883 he has the rank of Captain and Brevet Major, transferring from the 5th to the 1st Dragoon Guards, dated 20th Oct 1883. In the Gazette of 18th March 1890, India Office, he is Major R C B Lawrence, 1st Dragoon Guards. He was upgraded from 2nd to 1st Class District Staff Officer, Bengal Establishment, dated 18th Nov 1889. The photo shows him in the dress uniform of the 5th Dragoon Guards with a crown badge on each shoulder to denote the rank of major.
