5th Dragoon Guards

Sabretache 1818

This interesting example of the 5th Dragoon Guards sabretache is on green velvet and has the coronet combined with two battle honours and a reverse PC cypher in gold embroidery. The honour for SALAMANCA was granted on 26th Oct 1814 and for PENINSULA on 6th April 1815. The broad gold lace around the edge is of herringbone pattern and the Greek Key design follows the inside of the lace. This design was used for mourning and so dates the sabretache after Charlotte's death which occurred on 6th Nov 1817.
