5th Dragoon Guards

Sergeant-Major Stewart

One of the famous set of photographs by Joseph Cundall and Robert Howlett taken at Aldershot in 1856. There were 26 photos in the album entitled Crimean Heroes 1856. This photo of Sergeant-Major Stewart gives us a clear view of his three gold rank chevrons and cushioned crown badge. The medals include the British Crimea medal with three clasps and the French Crimean Medaille Militaire.
