Trumpeter and Main Guard 1906

The Main Guard is mounted at Canterbury here, in 1906. The men are turned out in dismounted review order and the young trumpeter has his tunic and undress pill-box cap. He would sound trumpet calls on dismounted parade, and bugle calls on mounted parades. The trumpet is slung on green cords with tassels. The side view of the cap gives us a view of the ornate figuring of yellow braid on the top. There is no crossed trumpet badge on his sleeve as would be expected.
