Trumpeter 1906


From 1906 the helmet plumes of trumpeters, drummers and musicians was changed to black from the previous all-white plume that had been in use since c1847. Also in this illustration by Doug Haggar the yellow piping and aiguillettes are more clearly seen as the old photographs make yellow appear dull. The green cord that is attached to the trumpet was used in non-Royal regiments. Those regiments with King's or Queen's in the title had cords of blue red and yellow.
