A lion issuing from a coronet with a three part scroll inscribed QUO FATA VOCANT. The arms of Lord Ligonier who was Colonel of the regiment from 1720 to 1749. The commanding officer Lt-Col W E M Rough sought permission in 1896 for the 7th Dragoon Guards to adopt the badge which 'was the earnest and unanimous desire of the whole regiment'.
