Sabretache c1830

The full dress sabretache for the 7th DG followed the heavy cavalry pattern, but having a background of black velvet to match the regimental facings. The gold lace border was of S and vellum pattern and the oak leaf embroidered wreath surrounded a guelphic crown and cypher. The cypher on this example is a reverse WR for King William IV but the design of the sabretache was similar for George IV and Queen Victoria, although the Victorian sabretache had a scroll inscribed PRINCESS ROYAL.
