7th Hussars


Harry Archibald Reid


Reid's name is also spelled Harrie Archbold Reid. He entered the army as a cornet in the 16th Lancers on 5th July 1864 and served with them in India from 1865-67. He exchanged to the 7th Hussars as a lieutenant on 22nd Dec 1868, captain in Dec 1870, Major in Dec 1883. He was in Natal from 1881-2 and during that time was Adjutant of the Cheshire Yeomanry. and in India again from 1888-94. Reid took over command of the regiment from Lt-Col Hunt on 19th Dec 1893 whilst they were stationed at Mhow in India. He retired on half pay owing to ill health on 26th June 1895.
