Drumhorse c1904



The 8th Hussars drumhorse was decorated with a blue shabraque and red drum banners. The battle honours shown here beneath the harp badge are CENTRAL INDIA and AFGHANISTAN 1879-80 which date the banners from 1889. The honours on the left are LESWAREE, HINDOOSTAN and ALMA. On the left are BALAKLAVA, INKERMAN and SEVASTOPOL. The regimental motto is on a three part scroll at the top. The drummer carries no weapons and has a white leather pouch-belt which carries a black leather pouch with a brass harp badge. The leopard skin saddle cover was added in 1904.
