Sabretache 1861-1870

The Crimean War gave the 8th Hussars four new battle honours but they were in action again in India in 1857 for which they were awarded a further one. It was decided to place these five honours on the sabretache along with the two existing honours. The two topmost, LESWARREE and HINDOOSTAN were placed either side of the harp. Below them, on the left, ALMA and INKERMAN, and on the right, BALAKLAVA and SEVASTOPOL. The honour for their efforts in the Indian Mutiny, CENTRAL INDIA was placed under the harp. The regimental title was repositioned on a scroll under the five-hooped crown: THE KING'S ROYAL IRISH HUSSARS. The whole sabretache was lengthened to allow for these additions.
